School For Fire Safety For Kids

If a fire started in your home, would your kids know what to do?

It’s important to regularly review fire safety rules with our kids so you will be prepared in the event of a fire emergency.

Gear Up World, teachers, and parents should work together to teach children of all ages about fire safety in the home.

Gear Up World can teach children about smoke detectors and fire safty as well as fire prevention when it comes to hearing a smoke dictor:

  1. Why are smoke dectors so important?
  2. How do smoke dectors save lives?
  3. And what kind of sound that they make?

Children need to be able to associate the sound from a smoke dector with a fire.

Adults should change the batteries in smoke dictors regularly to avoid having the alarm go off because its battery is low; this could frighten a child.

Did you know?

Firefighters recommend changing your smoke detectors’ batteries every time you turn your clocks ahead or back for Daylight Saving Time.

Fire safety does not necessarily need to be a scary topic for kids.
The key is for the kids to learn how to escape from a fire safely; not to become scared of being in a fire.
By tailoring activities and lessons to the age of the child, kids can learn and have fun in the process.
